Declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco in 1987, Sian ka’an means “where the sky is born”, formed by approximately 650 thousand hectares along 120 km from north to south, between Tulum and Felipe Carrillo Puerto, it is the largest protected area in the Mexican Caribbean that encompasses beaches, dunes, cenotes, a rainforest, as well as coral reefs, birds and a wide variety of animal species.
Within this reserve is the Archaeological Zone of Muyil, one of the most important for its location, its size and the number of architectural buildings it houses: pyramidal foundations, platforms, religious structures, rooms and other vestiges in 38 hectares of jungle.
Kaan Luum Lagoon
Just 12 km from the center of Tulum, by the road to Felipe Carrillo Puerto is the lagoon of Kaan Luum, which will amaze you by the large amount of colors you will see.
