On a hill overlooking the town of San Miguel and La Presa Allende, is Hacienda San José Lavista, a project completed in 2010 by architects José Seoane and Pedro Urquiza.
It is a spectacular place with several function rooms, gardens, terraces, a chapel, a lake, accommodations, and a restaurant in an area of more than 10 hectares. It is located less than 8.5 kilometers from downtown.
San José Lavista is the most exclusive winery in the region and offers guided tours of the vineyards and winery, as well as a tasting of the wines produced, cheese, and charcuterie pairings, or a three-course meal.
The vineyards of San José Lavista grow Malbec, Syrah, Sauvignon Blanc, and Merlot. From these are produced red, white, and rosé wine, all conceived by the renowned Hugo D’Acosta, winemaker of the winery and one of the great figures of wine culture in Mexico.
It can be visited from Tuesday to Sunday, from 12:00 to 14:00, and from 16:00 to 18:00, with a previous reservation.
The Hacienda’s restaurant is called Tarragón al fresco cuisine and is run by young chef Francisco González, who has worked in the kitchens of the Moxi, Pujol, and Trazo restaurants. It is open from 12:00 to 20:00.
